The full name is "water-cooled wall pipe", formerly known as "water-cooled wall", also known as "rising pipe". Classification

 

  1. By Structure: 3 main types – plain tube, membrane, and pinned tube.​
  1. Plain tube: Made of full rows of seamless steel pipes; simplest design.​
  1. Membrane: Welded fin tubes form a sealed heating surface. Boosts furnace air tightness (less leakage), better protects walls, cuts wall weight, simplifies structure.​
  1. Pinned tube: 20-25mm long, 6-12mm diameter pins welded to tubes, coated with chrome ore refractory. Reduces heat absorption here, raises combustion zone temp – good for hard-to-ignite fuels or slag-discharge furnaces.​
  1. By Placement: 2 types – wall-attached and partition (double-sided heating).​
  • Wall-attached: Partly embedded in furnace walls, absorbs heat from one side.​
  • Partition: In large boiler chambers, splits furnace into 2 parts, heated on both sides.

Functions

 

(1) Absorb the radiation heat of the high temperature flame or flue gas in the furnace, and heat the water into saturated steam;

(2) Protect the furnace wall, simplify the structure of the furnace wall, and reduce the weight of the furnace wall, mainly because the water wall absorbs the radiant heat in the furnace and reduces the temperature of the furnace wall;

(3) Absorb the heat in the furnace and cool the flue gas to the temperature allowed by the furnace outlet, which is beneficial to reduce the slag formation in the furnace and prevent the slag formation at the furnace outlet;

(4) The water wall absorbs radiant heat at high temperature in the furnace, and the heat transfer effect is good, so it can reduce the boiler steel consumption and the boiler cost.
